How to Play

Objective

Shapes made of four blocks fall from the top of the board one at a time. Move and rotate each piece as it falls so it locks into place without leaving gaps. Whenever you completely fill a horizontal row with blocks, that row clears and everything above it drops down one line. Clear more lines to level up and speed up the fall rate; the game ends if the stack reaches the top of the board.

Touch Controls

On phones and tablets, on-screen buttons appear beneath the board automatically: arrows to move and soft-drop, a rotate button, a Drop button for an instant hard drop, and a Pause button. No installation is required — Cascade Blocks runs entirely in your mobile browser.

Scoring & Levels

Clearing multiple lines with a single piece is worth far more than clearing them one at a time:

Lines clearedPoints
1 line100 × level
2 lines300 × level
3 lines500 × level
4 lines800 × level

Soft-dropping and hard-dropping also award small bonus points per row, and every 10 lines cleared raises your level, which increases the fall speed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I clear lines faster?

Keep your stack flat and avoid leaving gaps, since a covered hole can't be filled until the blocks above it are cleared. Use the ghost outline that shows where a piece will land to plan each placement, and save the long Comet piece for clearing multiple lines at once when you have a deep, flat well ready for it — clearing several lines with a single piece scores far more than clearing one line at a time.

What happens when the blocks reach the top?

If a new piece has no room to appear because the stack has reached the top of the board, the game ends immediately. You'll see a Game Over screen with your final score, and your best result is saved as your high score. Press Enter or tap Play Again to start a fresh game right away.

What are the controls for playing on a computer?

Use the left and right arrow keys to move, the up arrow (or X) to rotate clockwise and Z to rotate counter-clockwise, the down arrow to soft drop, and the space bar to hard drop a piece straight to the bottom. Press P at any time to pause or resume.

Can I play this block puzzle game on mobile?

Yes. Cascade Blocks is fully responsive and adds on-screen touch buttons for moving, rotating, soft-dropping, and hard-dropping whenever it detects a small screen or touch input, so you can play the same game on a phone, tablet, or desktop without installing anything.

How does the level and speed system work?

Your level starts at 1 and increases every time you clear a total of 10 lines. Each new level makes pieces fall faster, up to a fast minimum speed at high levels, so the challenge ramps up gradually as you play.

Is there a way to see the next piece before it drops?

Yes. The Next panel beside the board always shows the upcoming pieces in order, so you can plan your rotations and placement before each shape even appears on the board.
